October Gardening

What a productive day I have had in the garden! My greenhouse is again full to the brim with lots of plug plants;

Pansy Frizzle Sizzle White

Pansy Spring Dawn

Viola Rose Shades

Primrose Alaska Fire Glow Mix

Wallflower Pastel Patchwork

Iberis Tahoe

Primula Denticulata

Lavender Elegance Ice

Eryngium Planum Blue Hobbit

Doronicum Little Leo

Digitalis Mix

Tulip Rembrandt Mix bulbs

Tulip Ice Cream bulbs

Daffodil Double Mix bulbs

Hyacinth City of Haarlem bulbs

I have already planted one tub with the Tulip Rembrandt Mix and I am planning on copying the idea on page 23 of the Gardening Direct brochure with the pansy Frizzle Sizzle White, Bluebells and Daffodils

The Hyacinth City of Haarlem will be planted amongst the Pansy Spring Dawn and I am planning on planting my two window boxes with Viola Rose Shades, Lavender Elegance Ice, Wallflower Pastel Patchwork.

I have also lifted the Dahlia tubers and have them stored in the shed till next spring and have put the Geraniums under fleece to protect them from the winter. I know that the time has come to take out the Big Begonia but as this has been my favourite plant over the summer I am holding onto it for as long as I possibly can.

I tried to plant some of the daffodils along the edge of the lawn but the downside of having no rain for weeks (and I am not complaining) is that the ground is too hard to do any digging without affecting the lawn. I will wait a couple more weeks and try again.
