31 Aug

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I mentioned that my peppers weren’t growing that well. Having received a new pair of secateurs I went on a bit of a spree in the garden cut back the foliage of a plant sitting next to the chilies and peppers. Lo and behold I suddenly seem to have quite a few babies appearing, which I am really looking forward to tasting.

My courgettes on the other hand made a very promising start but haven’t produced anything over the past month or so. Last time I grew courgettes I had so many I managed to feed my friends and their families too. I am not sure what I have done differently this time.

I still have lots of green tomatoes which I am hoping will start to ripen soon. The tomatoes I received from Gardening Direct are doing very well and are ripening. In hindsight I planted them in completely the wrong place so the fact that they are ripening is truly amazing as they get very little sun light. I decided to put the strawberries and tomatoes together in a basket, which was a bit of a mistake. The strawberries (which we are picking every day) have grown so well that unfortunately they have completely over shadowed the tomatoes and I think these have suffered alot because of their location.

This summer has been a very steep learning curve for me. I have learnt so much about gardening and how addictive it can be once you start.
